- My 5 year old making cards on Silhouette digital cutter… wish they had karate image #
I lost my mother-in-law to breast cancer earlier this year and this organization has a special place in my heart. CardMaker magazine has a wonderful feature each month- it selects an organization and encourages its readers to make cards and donate them. Last month for example over 1200 the cards went to a seniors residence.
This months readers are asked to donate their hand made cards to Necessities Bag a support resource for mastectomy patients.
The theme is “Elegance”
Deadline: Cards must be received by Sept. 12, 2008.
General Guidelines: Each Necessities Bag contains a blank note card so that patients can write to the organization about how they are doing, thus keeping up a dialogue of support. This is where your talents come into play! The handcrafted cards you submit will be tucked into the Necessities bags and used by recovering patients. Please submit feminine cards that are blank inside. Although the pink ribbon is a great symbol, the organization would prefer a wide range of pretty, stylish cards that would be nice for everyday correspondence.
Send all card submissions to:

I had some complaints about the letter “S” and “P” in the pdf file of the Quilled alphabet. The files were to small and can’t see very well. I fixed them and the download is fine. If any problems let me know.
I think this is one of the prettiest designs for a quilled butterfly that I have ever seen. I think the workmanship is also flawless.

My favorite blog Antonella’s Quilling, Art and Expression has a nice free pattern Free Pattern for quilled butterfly.
Not sure why I decide to take this challenge- very unlike me to get it together enough to finish a layout and actually enter something ![]()
I am still bitter about not winning anything in the Spellbinders die cut contest last month.
There is still time to enter Contest by Scrapbboks, etc . Idea is to Scraplift a page layout with your own twist. They have had 10 contest- one each week. Ahh- know I know why I entered- it was a contest over 10 weeks I entered the last contest on the LAST day.
Here is the original photo they want you to scraplift from:
I am quite happy with result- it is one of my favourite photos of my kids and I like the way layout turned out. I used Basic Grey Euphoria Papers, lots of die cuts and letter from my Quickutz Silhouette machine and got pretty crafty with inks and paints.
I absolutely ADORE this line of paper. Never thought I would get excited about plum and ice blue together but it works for me!
I kept curved lines at top from original layout. Instead of felt boats I used 3 other elements : pieced flowers, flourish and tag/journaling . Instead of stitching along paper edge I used small flowers to accent.
Changed title words and used paper instead of chipboard.

My work area was a disaster after making this:
