News About New Quickutz Epic Die Cutters
Latest News about Quickutz Epic 6 and Epic 12 (?)
I stopped by my local scrapbook store and she had just gotten off the phone from her Quickutz dealer. She did share some news with me about the new Quickutz die cutting machine , Epic Six by QuicKutz.
These cutters will replace last year’s never was :Quickutz Love Machine.
It will be available in two sizes a 6 inch and a 12 inch.
The 6 inch cutter is called Quickutz Epic 6 . ( I suspect the other will be called Epic 12).
Here in Canada it will retail for 89.95 ( which is pretty good!) A Cuttlebug retails for about 90.00 here.
The introductory price will be 69.95 CAD. In US prices I have seen have been in the 59.95 range.
As a promotion you will also get a rebate for a free 6 inch die.
- It will be able to cut ALL dies.
-The new Quicutz Epic will not use platform for different brand dies like Cuttlebug ( Thank God!!) I have snapped two platforms putting in wrong size plate.
- The dies will be inexpensive. Apparently they have found a way to make these very affordable (!)
- Comes with Cutting Mat.
- Weighs 6.6 lbs
For Steel rule dies you will need an additional cutting mat.
It comes with 2 platforms both 6×13 inches and will take long border dies. One platform will be for embossing and the other for die cuts.
The new Quickutz Epic 6 will be coming out beginning of July 2009.
The big news for me was the 12 inch Epic. They will be making 12×12 dies! These means you can make your own scalloped paper and 12 inch overlays for scrapbooks. For me this is a BIG deal.
It will work both manually and electrically. The price she mentioned was 169.00 CAD so I think that will be about 139.00 US or so.
She said no date has been set for the Quickutz Epic 12 but thought end of Summer early Fall sounded right.
The 6 inch will be perfect for card makers and for taking to crops. I will be looking very hard at getting this.
I am not sure about the 12 inch- it is SOOOOO tempting. I bought a QK Silhouette last Summer, bought KNK Studio GE software for it… then was given a Klic N Kut at Christmas. To spend that kind fo money on another cutting seems bit frivolous. I think the small Epic 6 is a great buy and also looks kid friendly ( I find Cuttlebug too complicated for kids to figure out)
The 12 x 12 inch dies also seem very tempting and I am so torn!!!!! Creating a 12 inch overlay on even the KNK very daunting.
What will you buy????

I don’t really see very good deals on eBay. Also, can I use any dies with the old Quickutz tool? I don’t have the new Squeeze.
May 9th, 2009 at 8:07 amHi Lisa,
I have been searching all over the internet trying to find out some information about the Epic 6…never even realized there was to be an Epic 12 coming out…
THANK YOU for providing us with this great information!!!!
I’m going to get the Epic 6. I am curious if it will really cut the other brand dies as well, such as Sizzix and Cuttlebug. I would love to be able to just use one handheld, instead of having several. I use my cuttlebug primarily for embossing, so I will be interested to see how this works out. Like you, I own a Quickutz Silhouette and a KNK Maxx…but, a 12 inch die sounds very appealing. I go to my LSS to use their accucut dies now for the 12 x 12 overlays…it’s hard to get the paper just right to cut on the computer cutters. I LOVE my KNK and would not trade it for the world…I just can’t seem to master the art of cutting a 12 x 12 scallop (or something similar).
Thanks again for the great (and timely) information about the Epic 6 and upcoming Epic 12!!!!

July 12th, 2009 at 5:55 pmHold off on purchasing the Epic 6. I just received mine and it does not cut properly. Quickutz has confirmed there are cutting issues. They are working on a solution. The concept is great and will be an ideal tool when they solve this issue.
July 24th, 2009 at 11:27 pmYikes- is this true??? I di pre-purchase. It is on back order until mid-August tho. Gosh I hope it will be okay as I sold my Cuttlebug!
I just received my Epic, and tried it today. I’m VERY disappointed. I love my other Quickutz tools, but the Epic that I got does not cut well at all. Most of the letters were not cut through. Apparently not all the machines are like that, and they are looking for a solution. I just don’t think I should have to settle for a machine that doesn’t work when it’s new out of the box. I really don’t think I should have to shim or do a workaround when it’s brand new. It would make me worry about having “cut” quality issues in the future with it.
August 13th, 2009 at 9:39 pmI agree, I just got my new and improved replacement Epic 6 and it still doesn’t work. I’m so unhappy with this.
December 21st, 2009 at 9:28 pmi’m very flustrated with my epic 5 they fixed it once already but it still doesn’t work. only cuts out 1/4 of any die. the thin clear thing they sent with it curled up 6″ in the air on both ends. i was so looking forward to it i waited forever for it to come out now i’m stuck with an expencice machine and still can’t cut out all the dies i now own. also i bought a replacement clear plate and its
February 28th, 2010 at 12:10 amway to think to work with any plates. i guess if they down refix this i’ll head to cuttlebug. at least i know it cuts.
