Well… finally After my computer disasters this month I was finally able to sit down and start making some cards. I always like to have some generic cards on hand and I am REALLY low. I have a girlfriends birthday coming up and she just LOVES corsets. I was going to design a corset card but truly… for the amount of effort it would take I saw a lovely collection of SVG images available for sale at Lettering Delights called J’Adore. I am not sure who designed the set but I absolutely LOVE the simple clean lines.
The set includes a very sophisticated set of SVGs- including cupcake, cupcake stand ( this design would be so lovely for a party invite!) tea pot, teacup, Eiffel tower and many more.

Corset SVG for Making Card

I loved the colours she used and used most of them in my own design. To save time I bulk cut the images I thought I could use later – I also like the overstuffed wing back chair and tea pot!
I used Make The Cut software to cut on my KNK machine.
If you have a Silhouette, Craft Robo or other digital cutting machine this in my opinion is the software to get.

Materials used:
Bazzill Card Stock
inexpensive Printed paper from Micheal’s (Recollections)
Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Worn Lipstick
Inexpensive pink ribbon.

This was very easy card .. I KNOW. I do wish I had a lace border that I could have used along side but c’est la vie! It does inspire me to create one- which I will post later in the week.

We did up 2 birthday cards and 1 Thank You card. I did all the cutting before hand and that was also not so fun.
Below is the THANK YOU card we did did up. They did up their own version with all kinds of variations.

I actually started everyone on with a cheap blank card that I bought in bulk from craft store. I had variety of coordinating solid papers and then a box of Basic Grey scraps they could use to cut out shapes and put a border along the side.

Solid paper was cut and pasted onto card.

Then a border using pattern paper glued on one side – they used paper trimmer and then decorative scissors to make the cut along inside and then inked the edge with matching or contrasting ink.

I cut out welded THANK YOU phrase so it would all be one piece with my Klik n Kut and had those ready to go all in blue.

I had a few Quickutz die cuts that worked well. I used my Quick Kutz Epic for first time in a long time . The first kid who used it turned crank in reverse and broke it,. ( Did I mention I had a bad day?)

I had a dragon fly shape, lady bug, butterfly and couple of others. I like the “flying” object shapes becasue they could bend a little and give die cut and card some dimension.

I bought a bag of buttons from dollar store- got hundreds of them in the bag and most were typical black beige and white buttons but had lots and lots of colours as well and this was a GREAT deal. Had each child pick out 3 buttons in different sizes that went well with their card and glued on.

The kids used cheap tape runners to adhere most and then some Tacky Glue to glue on buttons.

I had little stamp that said ” hand made by …” which they stamped on the back and put there names.
Some moms joined in as well and a surprising amount of boys really enjoyed the craft.

The card could have been done very quickly on my own and looks pretty good

Donate Your Hand Made Cards to “Necessities Bag”

General Guidelines: Each Necessities Bag contains a blank note card so that patients can write to the organization about how they are doing, thus keeping up a dialogue of support. This is where your talents come into play! The handcrafted cards you submit will be tucked into the Necessities bags and used by recovering patients. Please submit feminine cards that are blank inside. Although the pink ribbon is a great symbol, the organization would prefer a wide range of pretty, stylish cards that would be nice for everyday correspondence.
