Free Stocking Gift Card Holder

This is a file I modified that was given to me a couple of years ago. It is a quick and easy file to cut and What I do is use three different co-coordinating papers. My go to paper this year is Lettering Delight’s Peppermint Holiday Paper Pack I used “Argyle”, “Aqua” and “Red” from the collection. I printed out the paper using Make the Cut but you can also use any printing software to print. I used regular cheap white card stock from Micheal’s.
I then cut out the file 3 times on 8 1/2 x 11 papers that I printed out earlier. I then put together with bit of help from my kids… who went a little crazy with the inking
When putting together be careful not to use to thick a line of glue or adhesive or you will have trouble sliding in the gift card. I punched a hole in and tide ribbon on so I could hang on tree. If I had time I probably would use a grommet for a more finished look. I tend to do these kinds of things in a hurry and on the fly so speed a plus for me. The whole project from printing out paper and cutting out and assembly probably took 15 minutes or less.
This is a crafting project that lends itself well to using up scrap paper as well.

I am very pleased with design. I make my own candles at Christmas and hard to find a box for them to fit into or won’t damage the candle. This box can be used for a variety of things but I pop a handmade candle inside with a simple glass container. I put a small slit in the top to put a piece of ribbon. ( I secure with tape, staple or adhesive depending one whats inside and if I will hang it) The contrast of ribbon is unexpected and very pretty
I have been printing my own paper and loving it! I used Make the Cut to print it ( see my short video on how to to..) . This paper is “Stripe” from Peppermint Holiday Pack from Lettering Delights. I like how you can play with scale and create all kinds of interesting prints. In this case I printed on glossy photopaper and gave a little spray with Glimmer Mist, one of my favourite tools. Adds instant detailing with very little effort.

I am have been cutting with KNK Studio or Studio GE for about 4 years now and recently switched over to Make the Cut. I would like to hear from others who have used both- I am finding less problem in general using Make the Cut. The cuts come out cleaner and so far no issues communicating with machine. KNK Studio is a GREAT program and it can’t be beat if you want to create designs from scratch but I do think cutting is easier with MTC.

Someone on one of my craft lists posted about this great site for making your own pop ups cards- you dont need a cutter- just a printer and pair of scissors
They have some great Christmas cards- a simple Christmas tree pop up card, reindeer pop-up card as well as snowflake and poinsettia popup card templates to print and cut out your self. I found the instructions a tad difficult to follow- i was going to try and do for a youth group this week but thought might be a bit challenging for them to be honest.
Some og his ideas are just lovely of you have some time and but of patience ( which 12 year old girls are not known for )

When I posted my free Baby Christening cutting file in honour of a Baby Christening file collection I just did this up after Cyndi requested this title- she mentioned that in her faith they do not have a Baby Christening but a Baby Dedication. I try and be inclusive with all religious or faith based designs so I did up this title.

Free Baby Dedication GSD SVG and KNK cutting files

Free Baby Dedication Cutting file for Cricut/SCAL SVG Cutting File is for use with your Cricut using SCAL ( Sure Cuts A Lot) software.

You CAN cut files without a cartridge using your Cricut. Read my post SCAL Sure Cuts A Lot software and Cricut- Cut Without Cartridges for more information.

Baby Dedication GSD Cutting File can be used with(QuicKutz) Silhouette machines, Xyron Wishblade and Craft Robo. You just use the regular Robo Master that comes with your digital cutter..

Free Baby Dedication KNK Cutting File is used with Klic n Kut ( KNK Element, Maxx, etc) OR use KNK Studio GE software with your craft robo, Wishblade or Silhouette.

Latest News about Quickutz Epic 6 and Epic 12 (?)

I stopped by my local scrapbook store and she had just gotten off the phone from her Quickutz dealer. She did share some news with me about the new Quickutz die cutting machine , Epic Six by QuicKutz.
These cutters will replace last year’s never was :Quickutz Love Machine.
It will be available in two sizes a 6 inch and a 12 inch.
The 6 inch cutter is called Quickutz Epic 6 . ( I suspect the other will be called Epic 12).
Here in Canada it will retail for 89.95 ( which is pretty good!) A Cuttlebug retails for about 90.00 here.
The introductory price will be 69.95 CAD. In US prices I have seen have been in the 59.95 range.
As a promotion you will also get a rebate for a free 6 inch die.
- It will be able to cut ALL dies.
-The new Quicutz Epic will not use platform for different brand dies like Cuttlebug ( Thank God!!) I have snapped two platforms putting in wrong size plate.
- The dies will be inexpensive. Apparently they have found a way to make these very affordable (!)
- Comes with Cutting Mat.
- Weighs 6.6 lbs

For Steel rule dies you will need an additional cutting mat.

It comes with 2 platforms both 6×13 inches and will take long border dies. One platform will be for embossing and the other for die cuts.

The new Quickutz Epic 6 will be coming out beginning of July 2009.

The big news for me was the 12 inch Epic. They will be making 12×12 dies! These means you can make your own scalloped paper and 12 inch overlays for scrapbooks. For me this is a BIG deal.
It will work both manually and electrically. The price she mentioned was 169.00 CAD so I think that will be about 139.00 US or so.
She said no date has been set for the Quickutz Epic 12 but thought end of Summer early Fall sounded right.

The 6 inch will be perfect for card makers and for taking to crops. I will be looking very hard at getting this.
I am not sure about the 12 inch- it is SOOOOO tempting. I bought a QK Silhouette last Summer, bought KNK Studio GE software for it… then was given a Klic N Kut at Christmas. To spend that kind fo money on another cutting seems bit frivolous. I think the small Epic 6 is a great buy and also looks kid friendly ( I find Cuttlebug too complicated for kids to figure out)

The 12 x 12 inch dies also seem very tempting and I am so torn!!!!! Creating a 12 inch overlay on even the KNK very daunting.
