I have started monumental task of doing up design file for each of the United States and territories. I am doing them alphabetically and hope to post daily.
The first in the series is Alabama and I am posting them alphabetically. I am also planning on doing Canada and its provinces/territories as well as other countries as part of my travel cutting file collection..

You can use the little shape of each state on its own or with simple title I have made.
The font I used is free Truetype “Annfold” font.

Cute Halloween Treat Box Cutting File

This past couple of weeks I have been expanding my horizons and designing gifts boxes. I did take a course a LONG time ago in design school about making pop up art but things have really changed, ie. there was no adobe illustrator when I was in school! I recently made a purse box that I absolutely love- perfect for a gift of jewelery. This week I was struggling with a pumpkin treat box and gave up SEVERAL times. I would have liked to decorate but I found a great use for using up the printed paper i did up a couple of weeks ago, I PRINTED my own paper ! Cost me only $2.00 to download set of Halloween papers from Lettering Delights, Spooky Soiree and I am really pleased with results. I just printed them on cheap whit card stock I picked up at Micheal’s. They have a couple of other Halloween papers, Costume Clubhouse which I really like and “Best Witches“. If you’ve never tried printing your own scrapbook paper- give it a whirl. Cost me 2 bucks for 6 designs I can print over and over and so far worth every penny.

Best price I have seen for the new cutter from Quickutz, Cameo is at Oh My Crafts! You can pre-order and it will be available in December. Using the code FALL20 you can get 20% off and pay $ 216.00.
The Cameo is basically the same machine as Silhouette SD however its can cut 12 inches wide unlike the Silhouette which cuts 8 inches.
I own a Silhouette that I got dirt cheap and thought I would use for crops since my KNK Maxx is not that portable ( actually not portable at all!)
I also liked the Silhouette because of the designs offered exclusively by Quickutz- seemed easy and designs are nice. When they first came out a single design was in the 5-8.00 range which seems crazy now- you can pick up whole sets for .99 cents at Silouette store.

If you are a timid Cricut person looking at changing machine because you want to be able to buy designs AND create some of your own or even just be able to cut out a simple font without buying a cartridge one of the Quickutz machines might be worth it. It does come with basic design software that lets you do a bit of designing and cut your own letters/titles.

Quickutz claims that Cameo is quieter than Silhouette ( which is CRAZY noisy!!!!) and of course the wider cutting area. It does not have more force. The blade is same as original which mean you still can’t cut chip board. I am not sure why Quickkutz even bothered. from what I have heard they still are using same method for print and cuts.
Not sure if any of you remember the “Quickutz Love” FIASCO! They sold zillion of these die cutting machines on pre-oders- The Quiclutz Love was going to blow away Cuttlebug… was a disaster and machine was recalled and then scrapped.

Personally- if you are happy with your Silhouette I see no reason to switch. If you are a heavy user and want more than I would really consider getting KNK Zing that is coming out soon and is bundled with Make the cut software.
The Cameo will have optional software you can BUY. Yikes. Having used Robomaster and Silhouette studio I can only imagine how they will bungle the software up.
Oh- rumour also has it that you can use other file types other than GSD with the PAID software.
You can also achieve same thing with either make the Cut or SCAL which I am sure will be compatible.
More and more I think SVG format will be THE digital cutting format.

Nothing fancy here- just some basic tag shapes.
When I am doing a cutting file up I tend to waste alot of paper .. mainly because I am in a hurry and lack patience. One way I economize is by inserting basic images in spaces not being used on my expensive papers. I usually do tags and flourishes. Sometimes names of my family or mom/dad/grandmother then I have them on hand to use on card or scrapbook layout. I can usually tweak colours with chalks or inks to match. Also to be honest I use same colours over and over again. I have started monumental task of doing up design file for each of the United States and territories. I am doing them alphabetically and hope to post daily.
The first in the series is Alabama and I am posting them alphabetically. I am also planning on doing Canada and its provinces/territories as well as other countries as part of my travel cutting file collection..

You can use the little shape of each state on its own or with simple title I have made.
The font I used is free Truetype “Annfold” font.

Impressing the heck out of my 8 year old today! He just spent half hour trying to make an Autobot avatar on one of his Playstation games- must say he impress me too! he asked if I could make a Transfomer cutting file ( says alot when my 8 year old making cutting file requests! )
Anway- think this woudl be a great file to use with vinyl.
